PenFed is hiring a Deposits Business Analytics & Forecasting Manager at our McLean, Virginia location. The primary purposes of this position are to lead forecasting analytics required for the growth of PenFed Deposits Products - Checking, Savings and Certificates of Deposit (CDs), and conduct the product profitability analysis through fund transfer pricing. This incumbent will also provide pricing analytics to support Deposits products growth by leveraging the industry/benchmark study, portfolio vintage analysis, performance assessment, financial analysis, direct data mining, and internal/external sources. Lead Deposits Balance and Accounts forecasting through conducting analysis on pricing/promo sensitivity, portfolio vintage analysis, accounts attrition and maturity profile, marketing investment, and competitor landscape. This includes Checking, Savings, Certificate of Deposits, and other Deposit’s products. Manage and develops the production of multiple financial forecasts and what-if volume & income sensitivity analyses; analyzes corporate and product-level performance against management objectives and goals; effectively presents and explains results to senior management Manage general financial forecasting duties supporting broader Deposits and Finance team including (but not limited to): Forecast, Budget, Capital Plan, and other ad hoc projects. Design and manage the forecast process of Deposits’ KPI (e.g., balance, originations, fees), provide critical inputs to strategic initiatives like Liquidity Analysis and dynamic Asset Liability Management. Lead sophisticated financial analysis and pricing analytics, build profitability models to assess performance across PenFed Deposits products (including Checking, Savings, and certificate of Deposits) by risk segments, vintages, new member vs. existing member, and origination channels. Closely work with Deposits and Finance team to support the overall design, development, testing and implementation of Funds Transfer Pricing process (indicative, monthly, and Proforma) to deliver Deposit’s product profitability analysis. Master fundamental product-design, financial and behavior modeling of various products, including Certificate of Deposits, Savings and Checking accounts; evaluates and models product cash flows including retention, rollover, and new account cash flows. Lead analytic findings related to industry trend, benchmarking, and competitive study, formulate recommendations to share with key decision makers. Clearly articulate findings and observations and make recommendations as appropriate. Work with Deposits, Finance, Marketing, Credit Risk, Operations, IT, and Vendors (Including Consulting firms and Credit Bureaus) to ensure consistent and accurate financial analysis, aim at driving profitable product portfolio growth while minimizing redundancy. Qualifications Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered. Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics Engineering, or a related field is required. Master’s Degree in a quantitative or relative field, or MBA/FRM/CFA is preferred. Minimum of eight (8) years’ of progressively responsible working experience with Financial Planning and Analysis and/or Financial valuation/forecasting within a financial service environment - Deposits products (Checking, Saving, and Certificate of Deposits) preferred. Hands-on skills in SQL, Python/R, Tableau, VBA, and proficiency working with large datasets are required. Minimum of three (3) years of direct management experience. Advanced Microsoft Excel (i.e., Pivot Tables, macro, lookup, index/match) and PowerPoint skills are required. In-depth knowledge of fixed income instruments (e.g., MBS/ABS, indeterminate maturity deposits) and interest rate risk measurement concepts (e.g., spreads, prepayments, duration, basis risk) are preferred. Prior experience with QRM (Quantitative Risk Management) and Funds Transfer Pricing strongly preferred. Excellent written communication skills with the ability to consolidate complex topics and detail into digestible and actionable content for Executive presentations. Experience driving results using both business and analytical acumen and develop optimal strategies and tactics that achieve business and member experience objectives.
