PenFed is hiring a Business Analyst, Product Profitability Analytics at our Tysons, Virgina location. The primary purpose of this job is to lead business analytics required for the growth of PenFed Consumer Banking loan portfolio, improve the product profitability, and conduct new product/initiatives financial evaluation. This position will play a critical role in advancing analytical capabilities for Consumer Banking, and developing actionable business insights in strategic and tactical decision making. This position will also be responsible for identifying and recommending solutions, practices, and innovative techniques that align with strategic business initiatives, anticipate market changes and trends and meet financial goals. Perform product profitability analysis across all Consumer Banking products, including new product development, merger & acquisition, organic growth vs. 3rd party loan origination, etc. Analyze data gathered from multiple sources to reconcile differences. Apply a consistent approach to data interpretation and performance evaluation/forecast. Build new and modify existing database/data-mart and business intelligence solutions to meet evolving business needs. Analyze and evaluate competitor data and industry trends to understand current business unit competitive posture. Compile, research and analyze trends in support of projects and initiatives. Embrace ambiguity and develop hypothesis/conceptual framework to connect business performance with product offering, customer profile, and economic/industry factors. Drive sophisticated financial analysis and pricing analytics, build profitability models to assess performance across consumer banking products (including credit cards, auto loans, personal loans, and student loans) by origination channels, risk segments, vintages, and terms. Formulate recommendations to share with key decision makers. Clearly articulate findings and business impact as appropriate. Team with Product, Credit Risk, Marketing, Finance, IT, and other internal business teams to obtain quantitative and qualitative data of business processes, and provide insights to drive better business results. Work closely with direct management in the holistic evaluation of strategies aimed at driving profitable product portfolio growth. Qualifications Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered. Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Engineering or a related field is required. Master’s Degree in a quantitative or a related field is highly preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Credit Card or other Consumer Banking products acquisition data analytics including but not limited to marketing analytics, statistical analysis, and performance evaluation within a financial services industry is required. Hands-on skills in SQL, Python/R, Tableau, VBA, and proficiency working with large dataset are required. Advanced Microsoft Excel (i.e., Pivot tables, macros, lookup, index/match) and PowerPoint skills are required Understanding of consumer lending products’ profitability framework are highly preferred. Expertise in Data Warehouse and business intelligence associated tools are preferred. Statistical analysis experience, including A/B testing, linear regression, and time series forecasting are preferred. Ability to manage many initiatives simultaneously while providing progressive delivery. Effectively interact and communicate with varying levels of leadership across a broad network of resources. Strong written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills necessary. Proven project management and executive presentation skills. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise. Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds. Travel Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
